The following is from the artist's grandson, Ed Williams:
Gluyas
Williams was born in San Francisco but lived his life in Newton,
Massachusetts. After his marriage, he spent his summers on Deer
Isle in Maine and was an avid sailing enthusiast. He did not go
to Deer lsle during World War II because his son David was in the
Navy for the duration.
He graduated from Harvard in 1911, I
believe, then studied in Paris and Dresden, Germany before returning to
