One of the founding members of the Portrait Society of America, Gordon Wetmore is a Tennessee artist who is known primarily for his portraits in pastel and oil. He also paints landscape subjects.
He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and studied at the Art Students League in New York. His early intention was to become a school teacher and paint in his spare time. He taught for three years, but in 1968 decided to become a full-time artist, having served in the Air (showing 500 of 1951 characters). |
