This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Gordon Wagner (1915-1987)

Born in Redondo Beach, California, Gordon Wagner is noted for his childlike assemblages, an interest that stems from his childhood when he began collecting cast-iron toys, photographs and other memorabilia.

Together with Paul Bouchard, Gordon Wagner ran the gallery at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro, California. Both artists had studios there in adjoining buildings from 1981 -1983.

The first  director of Angels Gate Honor Kirk, moved to Cambria, California and opened the "Aquarius Gallery" in 1986. "Gordon Wagner & Paul Bouchard" was the first exhibition at the gallery.

Richard Candida Smith from the Oral history Department of UCLA interviewed Gordon Wagner for almost two years before his death.  The two volume set was copyrighted in 1989.  Available from the Oral History Department of UCLA.
