This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Grace T. McCrory was born in September 10, 1909 at Reno, Texas. At a very young age, she had a desire to be an artist. She told the story of when she was about ten years old that her mother was out in the backyard doing the wash. Grace took the 'bluing stick', which was used in the rinse water to make the clothes whiter, and started drawing trees on the side of the house; although they were blue, she thought they looked real pretty. Despite the fun she had with her first artistic encounter, her mother scolded her and she had to scrub down the wall.

At times, her family did not have money for canvas. When her mother made new pillows, Grace would get the old striped pillow ticking and paint them white and use them for canvas to paint on.

Grace had many talents, she was a writer, a poet, a musician, and a Sunday School teacher, but art was her first love.

In 1927, she married capital Audy W. Hall. They had two children. Later, in 1959, she married Loyd Williams.

Grace is well known for her baptistry pastoral scene, and she has painted over 30 of them, completing her last one in 1990 when she was 80 and was a guest on TV's 8-Country reporter with Bob Phillips.

During the span of her career, she had completed over 500 works, including landscapes, still life, portraits and China painting. Paintings were normally signed Grace Hall or Grace Williams.

Most of her works have been given away as gifts or sold at a minimum costs. When asked why she did this, she would smile and say "God gave me this talent and I want to share it with others."

Grace passed away in Springtown, Texas April 27, 2001 where she had lived since 1958.
