Born in NYC on Oct. 26, 1879. Wishaar studied at the New York School of Art under William Chase while working as a scene painter at the Herald Square Theater.
After moving to Oakland about 1903, she established a studio-home at 1218 Telegraph Avenue and worked as a scene painter at the Liberty Theater. She apparently married; by 1904 she was exhibiting as Grace Wishaar Peeke. After her home on Lake Merritt burned, she suffered a nervous breakdown in 1909. Her (showing 500 of 885 characters). |
