| | Born in Portland, ME on March 29, 1850. Helen Wilson's father was a sea captain and after his death at sea, she and her mother, a nurse, accompanied a family to California via the Isthmus of Panama in 1855. Helen was educated in San Francisco and studied art locally. About 1902 she moved across the bay to Berkeley and died there on Jan. 22, 1910.
