Born 1878 in Brookline, Massachusetts, she studied at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and with Frank W. Benson, Edmund Tarbell, Fred Wagner and P. Hale.
Whitney exhibited at the Wanamaker Exhibition in 1915, where she received a price; PAFA Annual in 1918; the Art Institute of Chicago; and in Newton Square, Pennsylvania in 1935, where she also received a price.
