| An artist, designer and administrator, James Whitehead served as: Director of the Staten Island Institute Arts & Sciences, 1951-61; Assistant to president, Pratt Institute Art School, 1961-63; Director, Monmouth Museum, New Jersey, 1963-67; Curator of Franklin D. Roosevelt Library & Museum, 1967-.
He studied at Birmingham-Southern College (B.Art, 1933); Vanderbilt University (M.Art, 1934); and University Pennsylvania (Ph.D., 1942)
Memberships included the American Association of Museum Administrators.
