The following information was submitted in October of 2006 by Nancy Kennedy: Sculptor James Wolfe has built an international career, with solo exhibitions at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., the Huntington Museum of Art in Huntington, West Virginia, and has also exhibited his work at galleries in Germany and Canada.
His work is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Storm King Art Center.
Wolfe's abstract sculptures are often based on a fascination with line and rhythm, with complex, intricate designs that resemble cursive writing or delicate linear drawings.
A former resident of New Hope, Pennsylvania, he moved to Los Angeles, California.
