| Born in Seymour, Iowa, she earned degrees from the University of Iowa.
She moved to New York City and at the Hamsa Gallery in 1953, had her
first one-person show. From 1967 to 1970, she taught at the Pratt
Institute and from 1973 to 1983, at the Parsons School of Design. From
1975 to 1988, she was an Associate Professor in the School of the Arts
at Columbia University. She has been a visiting artist at eight
universities including Wisconsin and Virginia. She said that a
