| Janice Wilke creates close-up abstract studies of enlarged plant forms in pastel. The artist earned a certificate in painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine arts and a bachelor's of arts degree from New College of Florida.
The artist takes up to a month to complete each finished piece. Her studio houses dried hollyhocks, sunflowers, mushrooms and peppers, all plant forms which have fascinated her since she was a child.
Wilke teaches at the Community College of Philadelphia, Philadelphia University and the Fleisher Art Memorial. She is married to painter Scott Noel.
