| Jimmy Wright of New York City has been primarily a pastel painter but
also works in litho crayon, and in the early 2000s, began drawing with
black litho crayon on phone book pages. In the 1990s, he lost
several friends to AIDS, and as a result began a series whereby he made
a floral drawing on the phone-book page that listed the name and phone
number of the deceased. In the process, he discovered the ease
with which the crayon moved across the page, which has a slightly
differ (showing 500 of 1230 characters). |
