John B. Woodruff ( b. 1876 )
Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, he came with his parents to Detroit as a small boy. His education was gained at the Detroit schools and the Michigan State Normal School. He studied with Joseph Gies, at the Chicago Art Institute and in Munich.
He was a member of the Scarab Club, Detroit, and the Palette and Chisel Club in Chicago of which he was President in 1914 and 1915.
