John Wilson, also known as Jock Wilson (1774-1885) British
"The artist was assigned as an apprentice to a designer, and was then helped by Alexander Nasmyth. He was a teacher of drawing at Montrose and for a time, painted landscapes there. In 1798, he established himself in London, and was often employed as a scene painter for theatres. He exhibited in London from 1807 until his death. Wilson was one of the founders of the Society of British Artists and exhibited n (showing 500 of 755 characters). |
