| Born in California on Jan. 20, 1864, the family lived in Hempstead Queens, New York City according to the Census of 1880. Arriving in San Francisco with her family in 1886, Kate Wickes pursued an art career with her sisters Florence and Ethel. She was active locally until 1918. Unmarried, she died in San Francisco on April 28, 1924.
