| Born in Ontario, Canada on July 18, 1861. Wallis studied painting in Edinburgh, South Kensington Schools, London and in Paris at Académie Colarossi. Upon turning to sculpture, she studied with Oscar Waldmann, in Dresden and Italy. During WWI she was a nurse with the Canadian forces in Paris, and continued to live there through the 1930s. With the threat of WWII, she immigrated to California in 1939. Settling in Santa Cruz, Wallis was a resident there until her death on Dec. 15, 1957. She i (showing 500 of 852 characters). |
