Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
A painter, printmaker, and muralist, she was born on August 18, 1904 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.  Kay Swan studied art at the Art Students League in New York City under Bridgman, Benton, and Kuhn.  While in New York she met artist Donald Works whom she wed in 1928.

The couple moved to San Francisco and established a studio on Montgomery Street. She was active in the local art scene until 1933 when she moved across the bay to Marin County.  The years 1933-49 were spent raising a family except for a mural in the Woodland (CA) Post Office which she did for the Treasury Art Project in 1938.  After 1949 she exhibited in the San Francisco Bay area and won many awards.  Mrs. Works died at her home in Corte Madera, California on August 13, 1998.
