This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Currently based in Sonoma, California, painter Keith Wicks sold his first painting at the age of 11. "I wasn't great at subjects other than art in school," he says. "My teachers created a bulletin board for me called 'Get Your Kicks with Keith Wicks.' "
Voted 'most talented' by his peers in high school, he started a graphic design business at the age of 19 and ran an advertising agency for ten years. At age 30, he went back to school and earned a degree in illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. The degree led to a job as concept and story board artist at Industrial Light & Magic.
"While I worked in multimedia I also painted and taught art classes at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. In 1997 we moved to Sonoma and I made a break from multimedia to concentrate on fine art," he says. Wicks opened Vermilion Art at The Lodge at Sonoma and founded the Sonoma Plein Air Foundation. He is a member of the California Art Club.
