| Described as "one of the under appreciated giants of American design and a pivotal figure in the transmission of modernism from Europe to the United States", (91) Kern Weber was born in Berlin, Germany. He apprenticed to a royal cabinetmaker in Potsdam and eventually settled in Los Angeles, becoming the "West Coast equivalent of Paul Frankl, the New York furniture designer whose Skyscraper line was a highlight of American modernism. Weber is now best remembered for his Airline armcha (showing 500 of 2194 characters). |
