| | Born in Northfield, MN on April 28, 1876. After graduating from the Pratt Institute in NYC, Way taught in Colorado Springs, CO until 1917. She then moved to Los Angeles into a studio-home in the Topanga Canyon and continued teaching in the public schools for 25 years. She died there on Aug. 23, 1966. Married twice, she was the wife of James Mathieson and Ruben Van Alen.
