| Leonard Woodruff was born in Oklahoma in 1880. He spent time in Wichita during the 1930s painting fruit and floral still lifes. For much of his life he was itinerant, traveling widely and exhibiting in hotel lobbies and galleries in Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado. From 1900 to 1915, he was in Los Angeles frequently because his works were handled there by the Kanst Art Galleries. In the 1930s or 40s he was featured in a magazine article referring to him as “America’s premier still life painter.”
