This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Lori McNee Watson lives with her husband and three children in Sun Valley, Idaho.  She has always loved the wilderness and its creatures.  As a young child, Lori spent many fruitless hours trying to catch the birds that flocked to her yard.  After many discouraging attempts Lori’s parents suggested capturing the birds on paper with a pencil.  She has been drawing and painting birds and animals ever since.  Lori considers herself self-taught.  She pursued a promising wildlife art career and apprenticed with master artists; Robert Bateman, John Serrey-Lester, Carl Brenders, Guy Coheleach, Alan Hunt and Vivi Crandall.  Lori went on to paint and illustrate for Ducks Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, various trout and duck stamps and illustrated a few books.

Over the years, Lori’s subjects have evolved to include still life, plein air, studio landscapes and wildlife paintings in oils.  Recently, she discovered a passion for still life while studying with renowned artists Robert Moore and Jo Anna Arnett.

Lori’s unique paintings have gained national recognition.  Her still life arrangements are a juxtaposition of nature-made and man-made objects.  These elegant oil paintings echo the delicate balance between nature and man.  Wildlife, especially birds can still be seen in the majority of her still life paintings.

Whether in the studio or in the field, Lori strives to create art that captures a sense of mystery, beauty and drama.  In a world filled with chaos, Lori’s paintings bring peace and comfort to the viewer.

Her artwork has been featured in national publications most recently including, "Flowers and Feathers," August ’03, Southwest Art Magazine; "Editor’s Choice,"  in July/Aug. ’04, Wildlife Art Magazine; “Artist of Note,” Nov/Dec ’04; Wildlife Art Magazine; and ’05 Winter Edition, Sun Valley Guide Magazine.  She is a member of Oil Painters of America.
