| Raised in Maryland''s hunt country, Lynn Wade was a professional horsewoman for over 20 years before becoming a full-time artist. Her knowledge of horses is absolute (she dissected them while attending Virginia''s Morven Park International Equestrian Institute.
She began competing with her own hunter/jumpers at age six. Her career has included ''ponying'' race horses at Santa Anita, and breaking yearlings at a Florida Thoroughbred farm. She was co-owner/creator of the official dressage saddle of the 1984 British Olympic Team and has had over a dozen articles published in such worldwide equine magazines as Polo and Equus.
Nationally known as an animal portraitist and magazine illustrator, her work has, to date, garnered five American Horse Publications Awards nominations for Best Drawing of the Year. She authored and contributed artwork to the book "The American Academy of Equine Art Sketchbook of Horses at the Kentucky Horse Park"published by Equus.
Lynn''s two- and three-dimensional work has been exhibited at national shows in the following venues:
The Kentucky Derby museum at Churchill Downs
The Museum of Hounds and Hunting
The National Dog Museum
The Pastel Society of America
The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club at the National Arts Club in New York
The International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park.
She is a board member of, and juror for, the American Academy of Equine Art (AAEA) and is that organization's only dual full artist member (for both painting and sculpting. As a hobby, Lynn competed her Jack Russell Terriers in trials in eight states and was the first Florida State Representative for the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America.
The artist works from her home in Santa Fe, NM. Her husband, Fred Imus, helps run the Imus Ranch, for kids with cancer, in Ribera, NM.
