| The following information was submitted in September of 2006 by Edward Albritton: Marty Wilson, Marine Life Artist
As a realist, Marty Wilson exemplifies the most remarkable and technically correct marine life images portrayed in their natural environment. Born in 1962, in Big Springs, Texas, the Wilson family traveled all over the world due to the dedication of his father serving in the United States Air Force. Upon retirement on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Wilson family eventually encouraged Marty to pursue his dream as Marty put it " the need to paint is so much a part of his life is as breathing". " I would not be able to survive without following the most important thing in my life," focusing on Marine art due to his passion for saltwater deep sea fishing. Marty's parents further molded the passion for paintings from parents who served as school teachers teaching art classes. No other formal education was required.
Marty's favorite subject was along the lines of Guy Harvey and Wyland work with a flair of his own and techniques capturing the drama and action of each picture. Again, choosing the Blue Marlin, Cobia, Trout, Redfish, Dauphin and porpoise to name a few. The Marshland in the area brought out Marty's interest in Birds like the Crane, Blue Heron, Snowy white egrets among others.
Many exhibitions both local and out of state shows have brought many awards and important exposure showcasing his diverse class and quality to the general public. Many collectors have begun to realize the excitement of owning his works including such dignitaries and celebrities as Glen Campbell , Travis Tritt, Diane Sawyer, Rep. Senator Trent Lott and Senator Tommy Gollot and many others.
