This biography from the Archives of AskART:
|  A picture restorer and painter of landscapes and horses, Peter West was born in Bedford, England. He studied in London at the Lees School of Arts and with his father, Robert West and emigrated to America in 1863.
In New Orleans and other cities he did restoration of paintings and then, while living in Cleveland, turned to the depiction of horses. Later he did landscape scenes.
