Glenn S. "Pop" Warner "The Grand Old Man of Football" was born in Springville New York, and graduated from Griffith Institute in 1889. In 1885 he supported himself through Cornell University's College of Law by creating watercolor sketches and paintings.
After graduation he married Tibb Lorraine Smith. "Pop's" participation and leadership in football led to his accepting a position as football coach at the University of Georgia. He later won fame as coach at Corne (showing 500 of 1770 characters). |
