Biography from a third party submitted on 06/21/2006:
Glenn S. "Pop" Warner "The Grand Old Man of Football" was born in Springville New York, and graduated from Griffith Institute in 1889.  In 1885 he supported himself  through Cornell University's College of Law by creating watercolor sketches and paintings.

After graduation he married Tibb Lorraine Smith.  "Pop's" participation and leadership in football led to his accepting a position as football coach at the University of Georgia.  He later won fame as coach at Cornell University, Iowa state, Carlisle Indian School, University of Pittsburgh, Stanford University, Temple University, and at San Jose State College where he acted in the capacity of an advisor.

He was a creative genius in the coaching of football.   He developed and perfected his own style of play - the famed Warner System - which was based on deception, speed and timing. G. S. Warner has been inducted into the College Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In 1997 The United States Post Office honored "Pop" with the issue of a stamp with his likeness. The Pop Warner Little Scholars organization continues to be the worlds largest
organized football, cheerleader and dance for children.

In his retirement years he again took up doing watercolor landscapes some of Stanford University.  His other hobbies consisted of designing furniture and songwriting. In "pop's" home town of Springville New York you can find the Warner Museum where some of his works are displayed, and many of "Pop's" collection of Indian Artifacts.  Many items came from Indian tribes in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and tribes of the Pacific Coast States, Aleutian Islands and Arizona.

His works are signed G S Warner at the bottom right.
