| From Salt Lake City, the oldest of eight children, Rebecca Wagstaff was
raised in Utah a family that valued education. She enrolled in
Brigham Young University as a premed student focused on obstetrics, but
after taking a watercolor class, switched to art. Then following
an interest she developed in Arno Werner, a Connecticut German
bookbinder, she moved to New York City where she took a nanny job and
then contacted Werner. She then became his apprentice, and
