Biography from ArtSanDiego:
Robert "Bob" Wendell was born in 1935. He grew up in Oregon and New Mexico, but spent his entire artistic life in Southern California. As a child he loved to draw. He studied at several schools in New Mexico and California and was a scholarship student for two years at the Bisttram School in Taos, New Mexico. He spent two years at Los Angeles City College. He studied at the Chouinard Institute (now the California Art Institute) under Rico LeBrun. He earned his MFA from the Otis Art Institute.

A graphic artist by trade, early in his career he developed marketing materials for such companies as Quaker Oats, Scott Paper, and Pepsi Cola. He began designing posters for rock concerts in the early 1960's with Jan & Dean. At the dawn of the "Psychedelic Era" he began making posters for many of the top rock bands of that time (the Doors, the Byrds, and the Jefferson Airplane). His original posters are highly sought collectables.

Along with Jeffrey Morseburg he published his poster work in 1961, and with his graphic art work he has produced many landscape images of California and New Mexico.
