Biography from Joyce Kirschner Fine Arts:
| Robert "Bobby" Wicks was born in Brooklyn; he left school after the 6th grade; was totally self taught; worked initially in Coney Island painting shooting galleries and graduated to sign painting and eventually banner painting. He worked in circuses for well over 40 years both in New York and Florida and took up "easel" painting initially as a "hobby" but eventually started to sell these works.
