This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A painter in acrylic, designer in stain glass and silver, sculptor and long-time teacher, Rodney Winfield has had a diverse career.  He was born in New York City. As a young man, he was artistically inclined and composed music, drew and painted, danced, wrote poetry and created sculpture.  Choosing to focus on art, he enrolled in Cooper Union School in New York City.

From 1953 to 1970, he was a stain-glass designer for Emil Frei Associates in St. Louis, and from 1970, was a designer with Winfield Jewelry. From 1964 to 1990, he was a professor of art at Maryville University in St. Louis.

He has done commission pieces including a bronze and steel Ark Wall for Temple Israel in St. Louis and a window for the Washington Cathedral.

In retirement, Winfield settled in Carmel, California.
