An arbiter of good taste active in Chicago and New York, Rue Ann Carpenter oversaw the interior decoration of the Fortnightly Club and Casino Club in Chicago and the Waldorf Hotel and Elizabeth Arden Salon in New York City. She was a founder of the Chicago Arts Club where she expressed her commitment to contemporary art by creating an atmosphere where visual arts of the 'new styles' could be featured.
The Arts Club's rooms were open to the public and were hung with works by Picasso, (showing 500 of 862 characters). |
