Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
| | Painter. Born in Cleveland, OH in 1832. Wright studied art at the NAD and was active in the West in the 1850s. It is unknown what dates he was in California. His oil painting The Card Players in the Oakland Museum is dated 1884, but could possibly have been done from an earlier sketch. He is best known as a portraitist of 19th century political figures. He died in 1900, probably in Brooklyn, NY. Exh: NAD, 1862-80; Brooklyn AA, 1865-80.
