| Sarah Lenora Waite was born in Staten Island, NY on June 13, 1859. Waite studied at the University of Arts & Sciences in Toledo (OH), Cooper Institute in New York, University of Chicago, and the CCAC. She was a resident of Berkeley in 1903-06 and contributed illustrations to the San Francisco Chronicle and Life magazine. During the 1920s and early 1930s she taught art at Union High School in Watsonville, CA. A spinster, she died in Oakland, CA on May 22, 1953.
