This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| A still-life painter, Sarah Wenzler sometimes used only the initials S.W. Wenzler or H. Wenzler when signing her paintings because she was active at a time when women artists were discrimimated against in exhibitions and purchases.
Wenzler was active in New York City between 1860 and 1872 and exhibited at the National Academy of Design during this time as well as the Brooklyn Art Association and the Pennsylvania Academy, 1868 to 1869.
Little else is known of her life.
