| A charter member of the Society of Animal Artists, Walter Wilwerding was born in Winona, Minnesota and spent most of his career in Minneapolis where he was an instructor in animal drawing and then Vice President and Director of Drawing for the Public Schools. He was a member of the National Advisory Board for Art Instruction in the Schools and was an author and illustrator on several books of drawing animals and painting animals.
