This biography from the Archives of AskART:

William W. Wright (1890-1979/80) was a man of many talents.  By day, he was a physician in the employ of a Hartford insurance company; in his leisure hours, he pursued his passion for art.

Wright's works depict radically different subjects.  Examples include a New Hampshire landscape, a Caribbean scene featuring a colorful voodoo ceremony, an urban landscape as viewed from a city window and a suburban tableau centered around a filling station in West Hartford, Connecticut.  Wright also painted a religious mural (St. Michael the Archangel, probably painted around 1931) and designed several stained glass windows for the Grace Episcopal Church in Hartford, where he was a longtime parishioner.  Wright was a member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts and a frequent exhibitor at the Springfield Arts League in Springfield, Massachusetts.
