William Waltemath was born in Tönsberg (county Vestfold) in Norway on the 16th of December 1876 as Fredrik Vilhelm Axelsen, son of Fredrik Axelsen and Caroline Emilie (born Östensen). He was the oldest of 3 children: August Fredrik Vilhelm 1876, Bredo Georg, my grandfather, 1879, and at last Kathrine Fernanda Olufine, called Nanna 1884.
