| William Weeks was born on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts on April 11, 1813. Weeks became a builder and, after wandering in the Midwest, joined the Morman Church and settled in Nauvoo, Illinois about 1841. He was the chief architect of the Morman Temple there and did much of the carving in its interior. He made the trek to Utah in 1847 but broke with the church and moved to California. He died in Los Angeles on March 8, 1900.
