| | Born in Monterey, CA on May 8, 1885. Winifred’s grandfather settled in Monterey in 1825 and later became alcalde (mayor). She studied art in San Francisco and painted about a dozen paintings before marriage and babies curtailed her art activities. She died in her native city on May 1, 1970.
