| Raised in western Colorado, Dan Young moved to Dallas, Texas to pursue commercial art after his graduation from the Colorado Institute of Art. He first worked as an illustrator, but longing for the beautiful landscapes of the Rockies, he eventually returned to Colorado to paint full-time. He spends as much as half of his painting life outdoors, on location.
In 2005, he participated in an exhibition, "Maynard Dixon Country 2005" at the Thunderbird Foundation for the Arts.
