Born in St. Joseph, Missouri on December 6, 1915, Yoakum studied at Kansas City Art Institute, Jepson Institute, and University of Southern California. For 21 years he was a designer-scene painter in the movie industry, working for MGM on such films as “The Robe,” “Some Like It Hot,” “The King and I” and others. He also painted portraits of movie stars and worked on Disneyland attractions. He died in Sedona, Arizona on October 25, 1997.
