A survey and topological artist whose birthplace as well as the extent of his western travels seems unrecorded, he is noted both for some western travel and for his redrawing of many of the sketches made by other survey artists.
It is known that he participated in the 1855 Williamson-Abbot railroad survey to map a rail connection between the river valleys of the Sacramento region and the Columbia in Oregon. The official report has some of Young's illustrations of California and fourteen l (showing 500 of 1911 characters). |
