This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| A sculptor working primarily in stainless and Cor-ten steel, Karen Yank creates geometric abstract pieces, many of them suggesting images of mountains, water, and lava.
She is the daughter of sculptor Paul Yank, who introduced her to Alexander Calder when she was seven years old, and she has held a life-long admiration for his work. Another mentor is Agnes Martin, New Mexico minimalist artist whom Yank studied with at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine in 1987. |
