Lyman Young, like his younger brother Murat 'Chic' Young, showed an early talent for cartooning, which was encouraged by his mother, a painter. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute, served in World War I and worked as a salesman before he started his cartooning career in 1924, taking over C.W. Kahles' 'The Kelly Kids'.
Young created his first strip in 1927: 'The Kid Sister', a spin-off of 'The Kelly Kids'. His most famous strip, 'Tim Tyler's Luck', appeared in 1928. Young totally (showing 500 of 855 characters). |
