We purchased one of Reyna Youngerman's paintings in Toronto Ontario, Canada in 1970/71, and it had the following about the artist:
Twice awarded the Tiffany Foundation Fellowship, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Yale and continued her studies at New York's Art Students League. She has received various awards since 1926, and was active in art associations in Connecticut, Florida, and New York.
Her work has been exhibited at the Butler Art Institute, The Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the National Association of Women Artists [1932-1946), the Hartford Atheneum, and in Canada and Cuba as well as private collections including Joseph Hirschhorn. The painting i have is oil on board titled "Bayfront Park" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The following is from "Who Was Who in American Art" by Peter Falk:
In 1940, Reyna Youngerman was chair of the art department of New Haven College. She located in Florida where she was chairman of the City of Miami Beach Music and Art Board and the Miami Beach Art Festival. She was a member of the Miami Water Color Society and the Palm Beach Art League as well as the National Association of Women Artists. She exhibited widely including in Ogunquit, Maine, Yale Gallery of Fine Art, the National Academy of Design, and the Copley Society in Boston.
Youngerman was born in New Haven, Connecticut and earned her BFA degree at the Yale School of Fine Art. She also studied at the Art Students League in New York with Wayman Adams, Alexander Brook and Jerry Farnsworth.
