| | Born in Holland on Oct. 8, 1890, the son of a government official. Ziedses des Plantes studied art in Holland. After immigrating to the U.S., he was educated at Drake University in Iowa. In 1933 he moved to California and settled in Pasadena into a studio-home at 39 South Sunnyslope Avenue. Known in the music world for his voice, he was also a fine painter of landscapes of the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa mountains as well as the desert near Palm Springs. He died in Pasadena on July 27, 1949.
