| | Born in Bakersfield, CA on April 14, 1904. Zumwalt was a graduate of Fremont High School and the CCAC, both in Oakland. She was a teacher in the Humboldt County public schools from 1926-66. Upon retirement, she moved to the Monterey Peninsula and settled in Pacific Grove where she remained until her demise on Dec. 11, 1996. Her painting locales included the coast from Monterey to Mendocino, Sonora and Marin County.
