Biography from Butler Institute of American Art:
A collage artist and painter, she was born in Floral Park, New York on April 24, 1923.

Zimmerman studied at the Art Students League and the National Academy School of Fine Arts.  Her work was exhibited, among others, at: Art USA 1958; Silvermine Guild in Connecticut 1962; National Academy of Design 1969, 1975-1978, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991, 1993-1995, 1997 and 1999; solo shows at Westbeth Gallery in 1973 and 1974; St. Mary's College in Maryland 1990; American Water Color Society 1975-1978 and 1980.

She has received numerous awards and prizes, including a scholarship from the John F and Anna Lee Stacey Foundation; fourteen prizes from the National Association of Women Artists between 1957 and 1996; the Henry Ward Ranger Fund Purchase Prizes in 1976 and 1982; prizes at the National Academy of Design 1988, 1991, 1993 and 1997.

Her work is held by: University of Wyoming Art Museum in Laramie; North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh; National Academy of Design; Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers University. 

Zimmerman was an Instructor for drawing and painting at the Midtown School of Art from 1947 to 1952.
