This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Artist Statement: "Painting has certainly enriched my life. I find working with color exciting. My object in painting is to combine what I have seen and experienced in a pleasing way--to capture the essence of the subject and record it simply."
M. Joyce Zeigler likes to paint waterfowl and land birds, flower gardens, country scenes and other views of nature as observed all her life on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Having grown up on a farm, Zeigler expresses a deep and abiding love of all things of the earth; farm buildings and animals, flowers, a freshly plowed field, the scurry of clouds across the sky; all of these things enter into her paintings. She paints on location whenever possible.
Zeigler teaches oil painting in her country studio near Ridgely, Maryland. Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. Though Mrs. Zeigler has studies with various artists at the Art Museum Academy in Easton, Maryland, Robert Abbett and Clyde Aspevig at Scottsdale Artists School in Arizona, she is basically self taught. She attends workshops with Plein Air Painters of America.
