Founder of the San Diego Academy of Art, Marco Zim was a painter, sculptor, etcher, writer and poet, who was born in Moscow, Russia and immigrated to the United States in 1885. He studied in New York at the Art Students League and the National Academy of Design and in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
After his Paris studies, he worked in New York until 1910, and by 1911 was in San Diego where he opened the Academy with Maurice Braun. From 1914 to 1916, he had studios in Los Angeles and (showing 500 of 829 characters). |
